• Career: Rangan’s journey has been quite fascinating. He graduated in chemical engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. Initially, he worked as a copywriter with J. Walter Thompson in Chennai after being selected for a workshop by the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI). Later, he pursued a Master’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations at Marquette University in Milwaukee, focusing on Internet advertising. He then worked as an IT consultant in the United States for about five years.
• Film Critic: Rangan’s passion for writing led him to review films for the website sitagita.com. His first film review was of the Hindi film Dum, published in the Madras Plus supplement of The Economic Times in 2003. He went on to write for The New Sunday Express and The Hindu, where he became the deputy editor. His critical analyses on world cinema, especially those by American critics, gained recognition.
